I'm Katlin, nice to meet you!

Hey, hey. My name is Katlin Bowman and I am a junior from Columbiana, Ohio. Never heard of it right? Not surprising, it’s a pretty small town located about 20 miles south of Youngstown. Right now I live in an off campus apartment, but my first year I lived in the Honors Dorm. Ahh, great memories! My roommates now are actually the girls that I met living in the dorms.
I’m majoring in Environmental Science which has been a wonderful experience for me so far. I’ve finished most of my general education and core science classes so I am taking mainly environmental science courses. Right now my favorite class is Water Quality (EES360) where I learn about water systems, pollution and treatment. I am also in the honors program, and will be starting an honors research project this spring.
I work part time in a research lab on campus doing mercury and trace metal research. I actually got to go on a two week long research cruise on the Atlantic Ocean to study methyl mercury (this is what we find in fish!). Quite an experience! (check out more on the cruise at atlanticcruise.blogspot.com). Aside from class and work I love to play volleyball! I play at a club in Dayton and also intramurals at Wright State. I like music, volunteering, long walks on the beach, tennis shoes, and anything from Target! I’m on campus A LOT so if you see me in the halls stop and say hello, or feel free to comment right here!

Peace
-Katlin
