Spring Quarter 2009

Welcome to those who are new to the blog! New visitors - the COSM Dean's Circle is a group of Science and Math students that meets regularly to express the student voice. We created the blog to share our experiences in day to day college life and to give you a chance to communicate with us. We're still here! Everyone has been busy with classes and sports and traveling...but we are still posting and are excited that you decided to stop by! Also, feel free to comment and ask questions, we would love to hear from YOU!
Right now I am finishing up my junior year....college goes by fast, don't let anyone tell you anything different! This quarter I'm taking Food Microbiology, Air Quality, Epidemiology, Economics, and a Senior Seminar on cancer. I think the air quality class is my favorite so far; I'm working on a paper about pollution in the Arctic regions which is turning out to be very interesting. My hardest class is the Cancer Seminar; I'm taking it to receive my minor in biology but b/c I'm an environmental science major, I haven't had the same biology background as the other students, but I'm getting by!
On another note, I'm going to Kenya this summer :) I got accepted into the School for Field Studies Public Health Practicum so I will be staying at the Mount Kilimanjaro base camp (pictured above) for five weeks to collected health statistics and information on clean drinking water supplies. My life has been resorted to writing scholarship essays and filling out applications for funding but I'll soon reach my goal!

Good luck w/spring quarter everyone, thanks again for visiting!
